Supreme Court Decides Wayfair Online Sales Tax Case and It May Burden Online Retailers

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled in the Wayfair case, deciding to overturn the physical presence precedent for sales tax nexus.  The new standard will be “extensive virtual presence” to get to substantial nexus.  This will create burdens for businesses to comply with the various state laws, and inevitably put more tax revenue in state coffers.
