M. Kent Thomas Invited to Present at the National CICPAC Conference

KatzAbosch shareholder, M. Kent Thomas, CPA, CCIFP, CCA, was invited to present to his peer group as an industry expert at the 21st Construction Industry CPAs/Consultants Association (CICPAC) Annual Conference in Chicago, Illinois. The objective of the annual CICPAC conference was to apply knowledge of accounting, auditing and taxation for the construction industry to current industry issues and to analyze the impact of these issues within this industry and related regulatory bodies.

Thomas was selected due to the specialized services he provides to Architectural & Engineering (A&E) firms and for his expertise in obtaining significant refunds for his A&E clients, specifically Section 179D tax credits, which allow Federal State and local governments to allocate their tax benefits to the primary designer. Currently, less than 5% of A&E firms are taking advantage of the Section 179D tax credits. Thomas hopes to change that for his clients and the industry as a whole by educating other firms and the A&E owner’s representatives.

CICPAC is a national association of CPA firms recognized by their respective markets for providing high quality financial and consulting services to over 6,000 construction entities. Each firm is the exclusive member in its area and must demonstrate proficiency in construction industry services and a reputation for high-quality work and integrity.  Through CICPAC’s extensive educational programs and the continuous exchange of ideas and information, members of CICPAC stay at the forefront of the construction industry, allowing them to provide up-to-date services to their clients. When working with a CICPAC member a contractor can receive the individual attention of one accomplished firm, combined with the unparalleled knowledge and resources of a nationwide network of construction industry specialists. Currently, KatzAbosch is the only CICPAC member in the state of Maryland.
