KatzAbosch Helps JA Set Bowl-A-Thon Fundraising Record

On June 23rd, KatzAbosch employees participated in Junior Achievement of Central Maryland’s (JA) annual Bowl-a-Thon at AMF Timonium Lanes. The firm started fundraising for the event in May, and worked in 10 teams to surpass their $1,500 fundraising goal. KatzAbosch not only surpassed the firm’s goal by raising $2,000, but helped JA raise a record setting $225,000.

Junior Achievement of Central Maryland’s Bowl-a-Thon’s are their largest planned events for the year. Besides raising funds for JA, these events seek to support the local economy, and help build morale within the participating companies.

The number of students that JA can educate throughout the school year hinges on the success of JA’s fundraisers. With KatzAbosch’s contribution, JA raised more than $225,000 from their Bowl-a-Thon events. Mandy Snyder, JA Senior Development Manager, said that this was the most ever raised through the Bowl-a-thon.

KatzAbosch’s fundraising efforts were led by Timothy Redmond, CPA. He got involved with the organization almost 10 years ago, and started getting the firm involved 2 years later. Tim set up fundraising teams which consisted of either 8 or 9 people and a team captain. He kept track of all donations, and sent regular emails updating teams on their progress.

“I got involved with JA because I really believe in their mission,” said Redmond. “They provide young people with knowledge about how the economy works, as well as the financial management tools to thrive within it. They push young people to achieve their dreams while exploring their entrepreneurial spirit.”
