The primary responsibility of the principal is to work directly with a partner in charge of engagements and manage control of all work on assigned engagements including scheduling, monitoring progress, and final review.

To perform these duties requires extensive experience as a CPA or EA with the ability to proficiently supervise engagements of varying complexity.

The Principal reports to various Shareholders and requires excellent communication skills with their appointed coach, clients, and coworkers.

Description of Duties

  • All actions necessary to service clients in a timely and effective manner.
  • Assume full responsibility for an engagement, including preparing if necessary, in order to service the client.
  • Assume substantial client contact, where applicable.
  • Continue reviewing more complex jobs.
  • Train, teach, and develop staff and mentees in accordance with firm policies and procedures.
  • Obtain sufficient knowledge in your area of expertise for the Firm and develop recognition by outside associates and business relations.
  • Continue to act as the client executive on several accounts.  This entails handling most or all executive contact, such as running client meetings instead of just attending or participating.
  • Maintain good client relations, such as:
    • Initiate clients contact outside work environment, such as sporting events, golf outings, theatre shows, dinners, etc.
    • Timely acknowledgement of client accomplishments, both professional and personal.
  • Pursue practice development through new clients and/or expanded services for existing ones.
  • Develop a leadership role by representing the Firm in professional, community, and service organizations.
  • Assume various administrative functions such as billings and participating in firm committees.
  • Display complete ownership of work product.
  • Real Estate experience a plus
  • Partnership experience a must

 

Qualifications

Position requires seven or more years of public accounting experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Certified Public Accountant license or Enrolled Agent license.

Requires sitting for long periods of time.  Some standing, stooping, bending, or reaching required.   May require lifting to 10 pounds.

Must be able to use a personal computer, calculator, and other office equipment as needed.
